Long Lost Friends: A Visit With The Butlers!
13-14 January 2006After my short tour from Florissant to Denver, I found the Butler family in Westminster, CO. They have a great house and yard between Denver and Boulder where Kenna is working and Steve graduated. I got to meet their 2 year old son, Evan. We played a bit - his favorite thing seemed to be putting arms where Mr. Potato Head's ears go!
We enjoyed dinner locally and then Steve and Evan went home leaving Kenna and I to have a girl's night at the local brewery! Yum! Just like home! The next morning we were up bright and early to the sweet sound of Evan's voice and headed to the local mountains - The Flat Irons. We even saw Tour de France biker Taylor Hamilton coming down as we drove up! After a few photo ops in the the wind, we headed back down for shopping and lunch in Boulder.
It was great to see everyone in their casual fleece and Birkenstocks. The handicrafts and cooking stores were super! I had a ball and Evan joined the other kids in the sand and climbing the playground sculptures. Then it was lunch time at a yummy Mediterranean joint before I headed out on my long journey back to Germany.I can't wait to visit again in March!
